Congratulations to Paul Weyland Golf Students for their recent fine play.

Congratulations to all the Paul Weyland Golf students who played in the recent Idaho State Junior Golf Championship. Not everyone played to the level they wanted, but after watching my students play over two full days I was proud to see how they all displayed great attitudes and professionalism even when they had poor stretches of play and faced adversity such as playing in 50 MPH winds. Learning every day is the most important part of this experience. The beauty of golf is that there is always another day, another shot, and the key is to stay in the process of learning and get a little better every day.

Some notable finishes were:
Carson Barry 1st place in the 14-15 year old division with rounds of 71, 70
Jake Slocum 3rd place in the 11-12 year old division with rounds of 39, 39
Natalie Mullins 4th place finish win the girls 16-18 division with rounds of 85, 79
Drew Lunt 10th place in the boys 16-18 with rounds of 78, 69

I also want to bring special attention to Paul Weyland Golf student, Carson Barry, who is one of the four players to represent Idaho in Portland, OR at the Hogan Cup. The Hogan Cup is a two day team event consisting of four players from eight different Western States and British Columbia. All the best to Carson and the entire Idaho team.

Check out this junior golfer’s TrackMan numbers. Impressive!!!

This young man can generate more speed and energy into a golf ball than I have ever seen in a 16 year old. He is left handed and has only played golf for three years. He never had a lesson until I started coaching him a few months ago. He has played other sports and is a great athlete. This TrackMan data is the average of 5 drivers he hit on TrackMan during a recent session. He has a great swing. We work some on body motion, managing his face angle, and controlling his distance and trajectory. Mostly, it’s about Justin trusting his ability and believing in himself!!

Congratulations to Paul Weyland Golf Junior Academy Strive for Excellence student Carson Barry for his recent win and fine play in Future Champions Golf Junior tour events

Capture

Congratulations to Carson Barry for his fine play in two recent Future Champions Golf Junior Golf Tour (FCGJT) events. Two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, Carson shot a 2 under par 70 on the first day and was playing in the last group for the final round with three other top ranked juniors. Carson struggled resulting in a final round 76 and tied for 5th place. It was a great learning experience, and Carson learned a great deal about himself and his game.

Carson took that learning experience into another FCGJT event last weekend in Oregon. Carson played solid golf on the first day with a round of 74 on the very difficult and demanding Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. That put Carson into the final group paring again with a very competitive field of the top junior golfers in the Western US. Carson took his learning experience from the week before and came out on top shooting a final round 76 under very tough conditions to win by 3 shots.

Carson contributes his fine play and the win to staying patient, managing his game, and controlling his emotions. Well done Carson!! I am very proud of you for all the hard work you do. Now I want you to do, as Gary Player once told me, “Double it.”

Paul Weyland Golf Junior Academy – Strive for Excellence student – Carson Barry records the highest TrackMan Combine score this year for all juniors nationwide.

TrackMan Leaderboard

Congratulations to 13-year-old Carson Barry, Paul Weyland Golf Junior Academy Strive for Excellence student in Boise, Idaho.  Carson scored an 83 on his TrackMan Combine test.  This is the highest score of any junior golfer in the country so far this year and the 7th highest score in the country ever recorded in the Trackman Combine test by any junior golfer.  This is a phenomenal improvement over Carson’s last Combine test from October 2013.  Well done Carson!!!  Your hard work and dedication to your fitness, nutrition, and all areas of your game are showing.

Great to get these notes from my students!!

Thank you to all my students this year for all your support and trust in me.  I love teaching this great game to help people play better, feel better, and enjoy the game more.  This year, I have received many notes like these two.  I just wanted to share a couple with you.  Lets all keep learning and get better every day in 2014!!!

“Hi Paul, I wish you could have watched my son in the final round as he used many things you have taught him and it culminated in the lowest round of the day. I want you to know that he is really growing in your program and his swing is unmatched. He hit some fantastic shots that showed his progression and quite frankly superior ball striking ability.  He finished strong by eating and hydrating throughout and kept very positive and kept his emotions neutral. He understands and believes in the concepts you have instilled in him and knows they are producing results.  He is getting better and better and more confident. It’s about the coolest thing ever to watch your kid grow and prosper and we thank you for your knowledge and expertise.”

“Hey Paul, I wanted to write you a quick thank you. I have been working on my game since having my assessment. Over the past couple of weeks I have shot my best scores ever, including a 79 at Boise Ranch, and a 64 on the Robin Hood course at Falcon Crest. I am hoping to get another lesson from you before the snow flies, as I am very interested in working with you on Trackman. Thanks again”

Congratulations to Paul Weyland Golf Strive for Excellence Junior Golf Academy student JT Bloomer for his outstanding play in recent IJGT and RMFGT events in California and Arizona.

Congratulations to JT Bloomer for his recent fine play and a 2nd place finish at an International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) event on a demanding course at Half Moon Bay, California.

JT continued his fine play over the weekend in a Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour (RMJGT) event in Arizona.  JT posted rounds of 75 and 72 for a T2 finish.  JT was in control of his ball flight today with a second round of even par 72.  He had a great game plan and stuck to it.  He avoided making worse that a bogey, which is a key to junior golf scoring.  JT’s hard work on his short game is paying off.  He made some good par saves to keep his momentum during his round.  Well done JT and all the best in your upcoming events!!!
