Strive for Excellence students –

Starting back in June at The Dropping tournament at Banbury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, this competitive, regional junior golf tournament played at 6,700 yards.  Jake Slocum, Strive for Excellence student and incoming sophomore at Rocky Mountain High School, posted 73-74-74 total 221 finishing in 4th Place.  Jake O’Neil, Strive for Excellence student and incoming junior at Fruitland High School, finished T18.  Both of these boys have stepped up their games this year resulting in better scores at more challenging tournaments.  Their hard work is paying off.

On July 8th, Jake O’Neil played in the qualifier for the ACDS Championship at Lake Merced AJGA. The qualifier was held at Coyote Creek Golf Club – Valley Course, Par: 37-35–72, Yardage: 6967, Rating: 73.9, Slope: 134.  O’Neil placed T1 posting 35-37–72 and qualified for the event.  He placed T34.  Jake was disappointed in his performance, but I had to remind him that he also enjoys playing basketball on his high school team and has not competed in many tournaments since last fall.

Rising Stars students –

Some outstanding playing by Carly Carter and Christine Cho at an Idaho Junior Golf event in the Girls 14-15 division at Falcon Crest Golf Club.   Both Carly and Christine are going to be freshmen this year and are moving into my new Strive for Excellence group.  These girls are just starting to learn their potential, and I’m expecting many more good scores like these!

Zach Carter and Dallas Jackson, have also been playing some great golf this summer.  Zach won the IGA Boys age 13 division at Falcon Crest Golf Club which was played on the Championship course from 6,100 yards.  Dallas placed T2 with a 9-hole score of 36 in the IGA Boys 11-12 division at Redhawk Golf Club.

Great playing and keep having fun!
