Congratulations Jake Slocum, Paul Weyland Golf Strive for Excellence Student, for qualifying for the 2019 USGA Junior Amateur.
I am so proud of this amazing young man, first, for the fine young man and model citizen he has become. Second, Jake is the hardest worker I know. In preparation for the USGA Junior Championship qualifier today at @timberstonegcid Jake put in the long hours of preparation around the green complexes and recorded all the hole locations, putted from 10 feet around the hole North, South, East, and West, and recorded the break from each direction on his map of the greens.
His hard work paid off as Jake made 8 birdies resulting in a 6 under par 66. Jake won the qualifier by 2 shots over a very strong field that included top juniors from California, across the US and Canada.
This young man understands that it’s all about the process and if you stick with the process good things will happen. Well done Jake!
